Our Sheepsoft 100% British Wool is crafted using a combination of the exquisite Bluefaced Leicester for its softness and the resilient Masham for its durability. This careful selection allows us to create a yarn that meets the highest standards of quality.

We prioritize full traceability, providing our customers with the assurance that our wool can be traced back to British Wool, guaranteeing its origin and authenticity.

As a company committed to sustainability, we embrace the natural, renewable, and biodegradable properties of wool. Our manufacturing process boasts a low carbon footprint, with the journey from fleece to finished yarn covering less than 50 miles. By minimizing transportation distances, we contribute to reducing our environmental impact.

By supporting British farmers and engaging in UK manufacturing, we not only contribute to the local economy but also promote a sense of national pride. Our dedication to British wool is a testament to our commitment to domestic industries.

We hold ourselves to high standards of animal welfare, ensuring that the sheep providing the wool are well-cared for and treated with respect.

When you choose our Sheepsoft 100% British Wool, you can be confident that you are supporting a product that is genuinely manufactured in the UK, with all the benefits that come with it – quality, traceability, sustainability, and a commitment to our local communities.

Animal Welfare

At Laxtons, we prioritise animal welfare, responsible farming, and ethical practices in our strict sourcing policy, especially for natural fibers. We closely collaborate with the British Wool Marketing Board, who shares our commitment to these principles.

British Wool places great importance on animal welfare. While they lack the authority to enforce animal welfare legislation, they promptly report any cases of mistreatment to the responsible agencies, such as Defra, FAWC, RSPCA, SSPCA, and ISPCA.

We commissioned a comprehensive study called Best Management Practices, summarizing the high husbandry, health, and environmental standards for British Wool production.

UK sheep farms are typically small-scale, with an average of around 350 sheep. Sheep are raised naturally outdoors on pasture, making UK lamb production non-intensive by animal welfare standards.

Sheep are shorn once a year for their comfort and health, yielding wool as a by-product. British Wool trains over 800 individuals annually through tailored two-day shearing courses, ensuring a stress-free process and maximizing wool value.
